Caroni 17 years
17 year old rum from a closed distillery in Trinidad
Compared to 12 and 15 year olds, this 17 year old Caroni is characterized by a lighter, more subtle "gasoline" character than usual.
Rich and generous, this Heavy Rum pleases the nose with its exoticism and gentleness in the tree.
Bottled in 2015 after 17 years of aging in bourbon casks in a tropical climate, it coats the flavors of honey and floral notes.
Small batch - Limited Edition Profile: fruit (Lady Finger bananas, candied apricot). Wood (mahogany, Madagascar vanilla, cocoa beans). Phenolic (turpentine, camphor).

Nose: Intense, exciting, seductive. The oaks have worked their magic. The delicate woody initial nose reveals Madagascar vanilla pods and cocoa beans. Fruit then appears. First they are exotic (Lady Finger banana, mango), then they are candied (apricot, plum). The typical Caroni phenolic character (turpentine, camphor) gives the overall nose great beauty.
Palate: full-bodied and generous. The palate shimmers and seduces with soft notes of honey and flowers (geranium, hyacinth, reseda). On the tongue, the cocoa found on the nose proudly follows along with homemade cane syrup for comfort and sweetness. Finally, with tremendous delicacy, the fruits follow: nectarines, hot mangoes and roasting apples ... indispensable!
General: Almost infinite. Fruit (apricot, Mirabelle plum) gently coat the taste buds. The finale reveals the creaminess of mahogany-like exotic wood, perhaps a sun-drenched teak terrace. The spice's finesse (cinnamon, fresh tobacco leaves) dominates the glass all the way to the last drop.
