G & M - Glenburgie 1966

Glenburgie Rare Vintage 1966 is a Scottish single malt whiskey

Glenburgie Rare Vintage 1966 is a Scottish single malt whiskey, bottled by Gordon & MacPhail as one of their "Rare Vintages" in the Distillery Labels series, where until 2018 some of their most rare, prestigious and not least superbly tasty whiskeys were found ( henceforth these rarities will be tapped under the banner "Private Collection"). This old Glenburgie was tapped in 2012 after no less than 46 years of storage on a first-fill sherry hogshead. It goes without saying that this is an exceptional whiskey with immense depth and complexity.

Glenburgie was founded in 1810 under the name "Kilnflat distillery". After a brief closing, the distillery reopened in 1878 with the more well-sounded name, Glenburgie. Today, the whiskey from this Speyside distillery is one of the most important components of Ballantine's blend mastodon. But fortunately, you also occasionally see single malt bottlings - for example from Gordon & MacPhail and other bottlers with a sense of the overlooked pearls.

Gordon & MacPhail are for the noble single malt what Lennon & McCartney are for pop music. For more than 100 years they have insisted on skipping where the fence is highest. The inherited sense of selecting the best cask from a wide range of distilleries is practiced today as it was 100 years ago. Once the cask is selected, it is transported to G & M's warehouse in Elgin. Here the cask is cared for and cared for with thousands of other selected caskes until that day in the future, be it five, ten or fifty years later, when the whiskey has reached its top. Only here are the precious drops bottled.
